Mark Barge is an actuary with more than forty years of experience in life assurance, investment banking and advanced financial product engineering.

He began his career at New Ireland Life before moving to Provident Life and later Midland Life, where his team launched the first Guaranteed Equity Bond in the United Kingdom. He subsequently established and led structured product teams at Midland Montagu and NatWest Markets, creating Quarterly Rolling Funds, Floor Funds, High Income Bonds and performance-linked investment structures for major insurers.

In 1996, Mark co-founded Intersolve and has since led the development of multiple first-to-market financial products and modelling techniques. Under his direction, Intersolve created the hedging framework adopted by Deutsche Bank for its pension bulk buyout programme, built a valuation service for exotic derivatives, and launched innovations such as the CashCade deposit-linked equity bond, the Index Mortgage, and the first Defined Benefit Personal Pension in the United Kingdom in partnership with Canada Life. He also established joint ventures with F&C Investment Management and Meteor Asset Management, and later designed new retirement income structures and stochastic modelling systems.

Alongside his work at Intersolve, Mark served as Global Head of Wealth Product Solutions at Standard Bank, with responsibility for cross-border product strategy and regulatory adaptation. He now leads Intersolve's continued research and development in pension decumulation modelling, retirement income design, and platform-based advisory solutions.
